Damian Lillard & Steph Curry Claim First-Team Spots on Lowe’s All-NBA Ballot – Blazers Edge

The 2020-21 regular season reached its conclusion over the weekend and now the voting for year-end awards has gotten underway. On Monday, ESPN’s Zach Lowe previewed his All-NBA ballot that featured Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard in the opening segment.

Here is a look at Lowe’s First-Team All-NBA selections for the 2020-21 season:

First team

G: Stephen Curry

G: Damian Lillard

F: Luka Doncic

F: Giannis Antetokounmpo

C: Nikola Jokic

Lowe explained that Luka Doncic’s eligibility at forward paved the way for Lillard to claim a First-Team spot.

The league made Doncic eligible at forward and guard. He was No. 5 on my MVP ballot, over Lillard. With that huge minutes edge, I decided to shift him to forward and get him on the first team — so four of my MVP top five were here.

If voters follow Lowe’s template, Lillard is positioned to earn a First-Team All-NBA spot for the first time since the 2017-18 season. This year, Lillard averaged 28.8 points and 7.5 assists per game.

In Lowe’s section devoted to All-Defensive team considerations, forward Robert Covington received a nod in the honorable mentions category.
